Helen is the founder / Owner of 174 Family Law. A pioneering force behind fundamental changes to the Family Law Justice system to help families find a better way to manage their separation and putting children first, being one of the first to secure Public Funding for provision of Mediation services in the north west over 25 years ago.
Helen’s approach is outcome focused allowing clients to look beyond the conflict to a more longer term future. She is a huge advocate for minimising harm caused to children arising out of Parental Conflict. She is a Director / Trustee of The Family Initiative trading as Voices in the middle which offers digital support services to children whose parents are going through the separation process. Through this work Helen has become pro actively involved with the Positive Parenting Alliance working with a group of organisations all supporting families who are going through the separation process with a primary aim of keeping Children at the forefront and improving the process for all regularly attending Parliament to launch initiatives such as HR policies for Employers to support their staff during family separation and more recently support resources for the education sector.
Helen’s motivation is to help minimise and protect children from the emotional backlash of parents separating and to give them a voice during the process and find ways in which they can feel supported. Helen is proud to have been involved with Amicable and Restored Lives in the creation of Split Happens an online bespoke safe resource tool for children and young people with an AI chat bot called Yuni to help children and young people to navigate this difficult time.
Helen Chairs the Family lawyers / Mediators Steering committee which seeks to support, promote and grow the objectives of the Charity. Quality is at the heart of everything Helen does ensuring she is fully accredited in every area she practices in, not only with the Law society but also bodies such as Resolution and Family Mediation Council.
Helen is a Solicitor, Mediator and Collaborative lawyer. She is also trained to meet with Children in the mediation process and is a Professional Practice Consultant to other mediators. She also offers training to her peers , Judiciary and other family support professionals advocating a better way to manage Family Separation.
Helen deals with all aspects of family relationships both Financial and children issues but with particular emphasis on High Net Worth clients.
